You would think from the title that this was a humorous romp. Instead it a touching story of two people who need to accept themselves before they can put past ghosts to rest a find their HEA. Damian is the Brethren bachelor in this story. He has sown plenty of wild oats but has finally settled on Lucy. She appeared in the love story of Blake and Lenore, her sister. Lenore and Lucilla had been kidnapped, drugged, and separated. Blake had saved Lenore and Lucy had escaped her captors. Time and distance had helped Lucy but her nightmares continued as she tried to sort real memories from drug inspired dreams. Damian is a friend and he realizes he not only loves his friend but is in love. But the course of true love never runs smooth for the Brethren men and their ladies. But Lucy's challenges are multiple and overwhelming. She realizes you can hide and lick your wounds or face the difficulties head on. Damian shows his Templar ancestry by standing by Lucy, helping her at every challenge, and giving her unconditional love. This was a very touching love story. And an added bonus is the couples from the other Brethren series show up to provide epilogues of their lives, support for Damian and Lucy, and some smiles as they interact with each other . I highly recommend this bookProduct details

The Duke Wears Nada Brethren of the Coast Book 9 edition by Barbara Devlin Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Loved the fun & humor of Lucy chasing butterflies & her survival during the trial. Amazing love story that will capture your heart
I have read 9 of Barbara Devlin's Brethren and each and every one is wonderful. Characters are strong, feisty, loving, lovable and humorous. Looking forward to 10 and 11!!
I have read all the Brethren books and love the series because it stays in touch with all the characters through all the books. This one was no exception and I am looking forward to the final two of the series and then to the stories of their Children.
I had been waiting for the next book and the next wedding to unite the next knight with his lady! Damian and Lucilla see their share of obstacles and plot a course for love. But will Damian be able to help his lady through the ghosts of her past or will they meet an entirely different fate all together?!?!?! Find out if they make it to the altar or if they let the past drag them apart and change fates course.
"The Duke Wears Nada" is my favorite Devlin book so far, and I've loved reading them all. I enjoyed being able to identify with the "bespectacled" protagonist, Lucy, and as always, I got a kick out of the humor Devlin always manages to skillfully interject into her stories that are full of passionate tension and intrigue. One moment the reader is floating on lighthearted banter that follows a night of soul-searing sensuality, and the next, the cannonballs are flying and we worry that this duke may be doomed. The top of my summer reading list is reserved for upcoming releases from Barbara Devlin. Highly recommended!
I cannot believe how much was packed into this book! My mind is still reeling!
I have been waiting for Lucy and Damien's story since book 7 and I'm happy to say it was worth the wait!
Damien has decided that Lucy Will be his Duchess and no other. However, Lucy isn't ready to fall in line with his plans. Lucy will marry him as long as he agrees to her conditions. Conditions that Damien feels will dishonor her.
These to go back-and-forth back-and-forth and just when you think there's no way either one of them is going to back down. Blake steps in!
Lucy went through a terrible ordeal and she can't marry Damien until she knows for sure that she's worthy of him. Damien tries to reassure her time and time again that her past does not matter to him but she's firm in her conviction.
After meeting with some of the other Brethren and their wives, Damien finally gives in and it looks like these two are going to finally get married and have a happy ever after.
But that would be too easy, so let's throw in a sea battle and a mind blowing twist!
OMG! This book was amazing! It is well written, it flows nicely, it has some warm love scenes, it has action, life and death moments and cameos from most of the Brethren and their wives!
I have enjoyed the series so much and I would highly recommend reading it in order. I can't wait to see what she has in store for George and Lucien!!!
I've fallen in love with Devlin's Brethren but lately her books disappoint me. I feel compelled to continue reading the series because I've fallen in love with the characters and need to know how their stories end. But the last few have left a lot to be desired. They are much shorter than the first few novels in the series and lacking in detail. SPOILERS...In this book, for example, Damien's character could have been delved into much more deeply. As the voice of reason among the Brethren, it would be interesting to see how he became such. He apparently inherited his title at 15 after losing both parents? That's a heck of a back story and it takes up like two paragraphs of the story. Lucy loses an arm and there is very little drama about it. She heals up and just accepts it. While I'm glad that she recognizes Damien's love isn't going to disappear along with her arm I expected there to be more to it than just one monologue and everything is okay. I like to think back to the earlier novels and see how much character development and emotional turmoil existed. Lance and his guilt over his cousin's death and how it shaped every aspect of his life. Sabrina and how she battled feelings of inadequacy. Those stories moved me to tears while this was mildly entertaining. To be honest, if you haven't read the previous books in the series, don't start with this one, you won't be impressed. If you have read the others then this is a nice story to tie up Damien and Lucy's story. I do highly recommend the Brethren series as a whole but these novels definitely need to be read in the order they were written. These later books leave a lot to be desired of you arent already familiar with the characters.
